Belgrano Day School commemorated another anniversary of the passing of General José de San Martín with a series of events held across Kinder, Primary, and Middle & Senior, combining historical learning with the excitement of live music.
The Artillery Regiment No. 1 Band Performs for Primary
One of the highlights of the celebrations was the performance by the Artillery Regiment No. 1 Band, which filled the auditorium with energy and solemnity. Primary and Kinder students enjoyed this unique and moving performance, bringing them closer to Argentina’s national symbols.
The stars of the ceremony were the P3 students, who shared the most important moments of our national hero’s life through traditional payadas during the Fogón de la Patria (“Campfire of the Homeland”). To conclude, they performed Los Granaderos de San Martín together with their music teacher, Magdalena Roiter.
Kinder: First Encounters with History
In Kinder, our youngest students joined the tribute through a creative activity. The K5 Tigers carried out a project that included a question-and-answer game and a shadow theatre performance recreating the life and legacy of the Liberator. The event concluded with a choral performance of En un caballito blanco, which deeply moved the families in attendance.
Middle & Senior: Words, Music, and Remembrance
In Middle & Senior, the ceremony began with the entrance of the ceremonial flags, carried by Senior 6, Middle 3, and Student Council students. After singing the Argentine National Anthem, performed by students Julieta Amadio and Victoria Inchauspe, Lucía Manzano (S6 Science) read a message prepared by the Science Department, highlighting San Martín’s humility, integrity, and visionary leadership as values that continue to inspire our community.
The tribute continued with the screening of a video by historian Felipe Pigna, inviting students to reflect on the enduring legacy of San Martín.
A Date That Inspires Values
At each ceremony, teachers encouraged students to reflect on San Martín’s legacy: his love of freedom, perseverance, and commitment to his country. These values continue to guide the holistic education that defines BDS.
Through music, history, and community, the school once again paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, keeping his memory alive for new generations.
