Wellbeing & Integral Development

Wellbeing and Integral Development at the centre of the educational experience

At Belgrano Day School, the wellbeing of every child occupies a central role in our school life. We believe that learning and growing go hand in hand with feeling accompanied, recognised, and challenged in an environment that looks after both academic and personal development, creating an environment that allows students to develop their maximum potential.

Wellbeing Dimensions at BDS

Wellbeing is part of the educational project and is worked on in an intentional, systematic and progressive way throughout the whole educational path.

Our approach is through a Socio-emotional Development Programme that helps students in the development of fundamental personal, emotional and social skills.

Inspired by the principles of learn to be, learn to learn, learn to do, and learn to coexist, this programme promotes the integral growth of each student and is implemented in an interdisciplinary way across the school, with the support of the Orientation Centre (COr).

Selfawareness and Selfesteem

We accompany our students in their process of knowing, accepting, and valuing themselves, recognising their strengths and also aspects to improve on.

This process allows them to build a realistic and positive self-esteem that favours autonomy, personal trust and the construction of a life project.

What do we prioritise?

  • Reflection on the personal narrative and history.
  • Development of the sense of self and identity.
  • Recognition of emotions and relationship with one’s body.
  • Construction in the life project.

Inner World and Emotional Intelligence

We promote emotional awareness and management, understood as signs from the inner world that invite a deep inner conversation.

From the first years of their lives, students learn to recognise, name and understand their emotions, developing tools to manage them in a healthy way.

How do we develop this?

  • Education on emotional language.
  • Identification and understanding of the emotions of oneself and of others.
  • Development of strategies for emotional regulation.
  • Construction of emotional autonomy, with the intention to educate emotionally mature students.

Social Skills and Coexistence

School life is a privileged space to learn how to coexist, collaborate and build healthy relationships.

Through diverse experiences and activities, students develop fundamental social skills for community life.

What do we explore?

  • Effective communication and active listening.
  • Empathy and respect for diversity.
  • Teamwork and collaborative learning.
  • Conflict resolution through dialogue.
  • Bullying prevention and coexistence strengthening.

Wellbeing, Life Habits and Selfcare

Wellbeing also implies learning to take care of oneself and developing healthy habits that favour integral growth.

Our programme promotes the development of life skills that accompany students in their personal and academic development.

What do we build with this outlook?

  • Positive work, organisation and study habits.
  • Development of personal autonomy.
  • Healthy sleeping and eating habits.
  • Selfcare, and physical and emotional wellbeing.

Responsible use of Technology and Digital Citizenship

In a world deeply shaped by digital technology, we accompany students in the development of a conscious and responsible relationship with technology.

What do we explore?

  • Construction of a responsible digital identity.
  • Care for the digital fingerprint made.
  • Prevention of excessive screen time.
  • Prevention of cyberbullying and grooming.
  • Development of criteria for the healthy use of technology.

Liaison with the Families

Wellbeing is constructed together with the families.

That is why we promote spaces of dialogue, orientation and support that allow for reflection on the different socio-emotional stages of the students.

What do we offer?

  • Meetings and workshops with the families.
  • Spaces for dialogue on the integral development of our students.
  • Prevention and orientation programmes on relevant topics for each stage of growth.

A Culture that accompanies the Integral Development of the Students

Wellbeing is not only a programme, it is a part of the everyday culture of the school

It is built upon:

  • The values of Fac Recte which guide our institutional life.
  • The classroom environment.
  • The bonds between students and teachers.
  • The sports and artistic activities.
  • The community meeting spaces.

Each school experience looks to strengthen autonomy, commitment to oneself and to others and respect for others.

A Culture of Effort and Resilience

To grow also implies facing challenges. At Belgrano Day School we promote a culture of sustained and conscious effort where our students learn to:

  • Assume responsibilities.
  • Develop resilience.
  • Build work habits and commitment to others.

We understand mistakes as an essential part of the learning process: they are an opportunity to revise, improve and keep on growing. In this way, we support each student in the construction of a growth, confidence and continued learning mindset.

Our teachers and heads accompany this process recognising every sort of progress and encouraging students to always give their best.
