As part of the Secondary School Learns program, the educational innovation initiative led by the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires, Belgrano Day School was selected as one of the pioneering schools.

Visit from the City’s Minister of Education
In line with our commitment to promoting new ways of learning, we welcomed Mercedes Miguel, Minister of Education of the City of Buenos Aires, together with Nora Lima, Director of Private Education. They toured the classrooms and workshops of Middle & Senior to observe how Belgrano Day School incorporates educational innovation into its daily practices.
During the visit, the authorities spoke with teachers, students, and the leadership team about how we implement our Educational Project within the framework of the Secondary School Learns program. The meeting was highly enriching, allowing us to discuss the current challenges facing education while sharing our institutional experiences and initiatives.

Participation in the Best Practices Forum
As one of the pioneering schools in the program, Belgrano Day School was invited to participate in the Third Best Practices Forum, organized by the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires. The event focused on two key themes: student autonomy and continuous progress. On this occasion, María Laura López Ferrofino, Innovation Leader for Middle & Senior, presented the strategies implemented at this level to foster student autonomy.
During the presentation, our school shared specific practices that are part of the Middle & Senior educational model, such as the Self Learning Hour, a dedicated self-directed learning period during which students can work with teachers from the subjects of their choice to deepen or review content according to their individual needs.
Learning experiences based on the Learning to Learn approach were also presented, including examples of History and Literature projects developed in Middle 1. Each challenge began with a reflection, followed by independent exploration as a precursor to collaboration and the production of evidence with peers. The process concluded with a reflection on the skills applied, promoting students’ metacognitive development under the guidance of the facilitating teacher.
These initiatives reaffirm the path we have chosen: strengthening the school experience through personalized learning pathways, greater flexibility in the organization of time and learning spaces, interdisciplinary projects, collaborative work, competency development, and ongoing socio-emotional support.
