On May 15th, Belgrano Day School experienced a very special day: the first edition of the Kinder Community Celebration, an Early Years event designed to celebrate the values, bonds, and spirit that define our school community.
A new school celebration that honors what unites us
This celebration —which aims to become a lasting school tradition— was designed as a meaningful moment for families to share together, one that strengthens belonging, the joy of coming together, and institutional identity from the earliest school years.
The event began with the entrance of the ceremony flags of the three Levels, as well as those of the Houses: North, South, East, West. These flags are a symbol of our school, representing our cultural identity alongside the Fac Recte crest. Each House Captain told the audience the meaning of their House, and the Head Boy and Head Girl described how their roles work, roles of great importance to the institution.
This entrance was accompanied by the singing of the Argentine National Anthem and our School Song. Afterward, Estela Fothy, Head of Kinder, gave a warm welcome and highlighted that:
“Today we come together to return to our roots. We are gathered to celebrate that we are part of something that is at once so small and so great: a school community that honors tradition and is committed to building the future.”
Games, values, and a bingo with BDS identity
Throughout the morning, families took part in games, songs, and dances. The event included a special activity: a themed bingo with cards illustrated with the animals —Elephants, Dolphins, Piglets, Koalas, Dinosaurs, Bunnies, Hippos, Leopards, Tigers, Pandas & Bears— and the flowers —Magnolias, Daisies, Sunflowers, Poppies & Bluebells— of the Kinder classrooms. A century-old wooden bingo drum from Belgrano Day School was used for the occasion — a playful and symbolic way to celebrate the identity of the level and each group’s sense of belonging.
Before the celebration came to a close, the Head of Kinder shared some big news, met with celebration from everyone present: the launch of the K1 classroom for Belgrano Day School’s Early Years level!
The event was attended by BDS’s main authorities: Raúl Taboada, Legal Representative; Federico Sciola, General Administrator; Tomás Movsichoff, Deputy General Academic Director; Andrea Pelliccia, Head of Primary; Enzo Speranza, Head of Middle & Senior; Estefanía San Martín, Middle & Senior Academic Coordinator; and Steven Page and Luz Cerini, BDS Board Advisors. Special guests also joined the celebration, including María Eugenia Vicente, Pedagogical Supervisor for the Early Years level at the DGEGP, and Marisa Scioli, president of the Fundación Argentina María Montessori.
Creating new traditions
Community Celebration was born as an Early Years initiative, but its spirit extends across the whole school: cultivating strong bonds, honoring our roots, and building new traditions through active participation, play, and joy.
