From Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17, the E. B. Green Auditorium will open its doors to celebrate the traditional Belgrano Day School Book Fair. Organized by BDS Library under the inspiring theme “Home is Where the Heart Reads”, this year’s edition aims to enrich the reading journey of all our students, from the youngest in Kinder to the oldest in Senior, with a program designed to inspire through literature.
Epics, Classics and Much More
We will kick off the event by welcoming renowned storyteller José Luis Gallego, who will present his one-man historical storytelling performance “Sueño del Aire” for S5 and S6 students, centered on a series of fascinating epics. He will then share his repertoire of “Folk Tales from Around the World” with M1 and M2, where adventure stories and oral tradition will take center stage. M3 and S4 students will explore the world of Ray Bradbury through the performance “Echoes of the Future”, presented by storyteller Marcelo Guerrero.
Meet the Authors and Timeless Stories
As part of their reading journey, P1 and P2 students will enjoy “Counting Stories with María Elena Walsh”, an artistic experience led by Mariela de la Sota, exploring the beloved songs and stories of María Elena Walsh. P5 and P6 students will immerse themselves in myths and legends from different cultures through “Timeless Tales”, a one-person performance by Marcelo Guerrero. Meanwhile, as part of the literary project developed in the classroom, P4 students will welcome Argentine author Diego Paszkowski, writer of “Donovan, the World’s Greatest Detective”, for what promises to be an interview full of clues and intrigue.
9th Poetry Recital
One of the most anticipated highlights of the Fair is the return of the beloved Poetry Recital, starring our P4 students. This performance marks the culmination of the reading journey they have undertaken during their time in the BDS Library, ending with the recitation of poems in the voices of our own students. The poetic event will welcome P3 students as the live audience and will also be streamed through our YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 14, in two sessions beginning at 8:45 a.m. Our entire community is warmly invited to join the live broadcast!
Storytelling, Music and First Literary Steps
The performing arts company La Madriguera will delight K4 and K5 students with “Stories to the Rhythm of Time”, a wonderful storytelling performance featuring live music and puppets. Meanwhile, K1, K2 and K3 students will enjoy warm literary sessions led by the BDS Library reading mediators.
Innovation, Exploration and the Arts
Throughout the week, students and teachers will explore the Fair at different times, discovering special spaces that this year will include artificial intelligence experiences designed to approach this technology from a literary perspective. In addition, a group of S6 students will perform a dramatization of Poems of the Week, S5 students will present a performance inspired by Oedipus, and S4 students will host a live podcast based on The Giver. Families are also invited to visit the Fair and share this experience during the scheduled visiting hours.
