
International Baccalaureate Organization Diploma Programme
Belgrano Day School is a candidate school to offer the Baccalaureate Organization’s Diploma Programme (DP) to students in the last two years of Middle & Senior (Senior 5 y Senior 6).This world-renowned program is a crucial step in consolidating our commitment to bilingualism, critical thinking, and the development of autonomous, global citizens.
What is the Diploma Programme (DP)?
The DP is much more than an academic program; it is a learning experience that combines academic excellence with a global perspective, promoting students’ ethical and socio-emotional development. The curriculum is based on six subject groups that cover diverse areas of knowledge, from the arts and sciences to mathematics and humanities.
IB Teaching-Learning Approaches
The IB methodology focuses on how we teach and how we learn, using a pedagogical approach that ensures meaningful and lasting learning.
Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) are fundamental pillars of its pedagogical framework.

Development of transversal skills
They are skills that students develop in the program to learn how to learn.
They are grouped into five key categories:
Thinking skills
Problem solving, critical and creative thinking.

Oral and written expression, active listening and effective presentation.

Teamwork, collaboration and conflict resolution.
Self-management skills
Organization, time management and emotional regulation.

The IB includes a balanced and interdisciplinary curriculum. Students will explore six areas of knowledge and develop three core challenges:
Monograph
(EE)
An independent and in-depth research project on a topic of personal interest.
Theory of Knowledge (ToK)
A course that invites students to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we acquire it.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)
A project that encourages students to participate in activities that develop their creativity, promote an active lifestyle, and serve the community.
IB Structure and Subjects in BDS
Upon entering Senior 5, Belgrano Day School students will be able to choose from three pathways: Arts, Economics, and Science.
In turn, each one includes a set of IB subjects available for your choice.

Requirements to pass the Diploma Program
Number of subjects:
Students must take six subjects (three at the Intermediate Level and three at the Advanced Level), in addition to completing the three core components: the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and CAS.Punctuation:
The maximum score is 45 points, calculated by adding the points from six subjects (1 to 7 points each) and the core components (which are worth up to 3 points). Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) subjects carry the same weight. A minimum of 24 points * is required.Core components:
Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK): A minimum grade of D must be obtained in both.Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS):
For the third core component (CAS), it is necessary to achieve its objectives, beyond not receiving an alphanumeric grade.* There are special situations where the entire DP cannot be passed related to the grades in the core components and the combination of SL and HL subject grades.
